Taan Forest Trained for Wildfire Safety and Suppression

All Taan staff and contractors who may fight wildfire must have annual wildfire safety and suppression training. On July 9th, 2021, we held our most recent wildfire training, and we currently have over 60 trained persons within the Taan Forest organization.

Preparedness is critical, and all suppression equipment is checked before fire season and staged for quick dispersal. Taan Forest creates an annual fire plan including all active and recently harvested blocks, attack plans, fire line organization and emergency contact numbers.

Taan has eight water delivery systems and supporting equipment, including a truck-mounted water tank and pump.

Contractors must have water delivery systems of their own and be ready within 20 minutes of active operations.

Between our operation and contractors, we have:

• Pump trucks

• Water tenders

• Several water pumps, including kilometres of hose

• Heavy equipment is available for making fire breaks if required

Helijet also has a 250 gallon Bambi Bucket to water drop when conditions are challenging or risky for firefighters.
